A compilation of words and deeds which hurt other people, especially lesbian/gay people.
This evil maliciousness is especially bad when it comes from avowed "loving" Christians.

Matthew 7:15-20 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.... Thus you will know them by their fruits.

DALLAS, TX--A Texas district court ruled that a lesbian mother involved in divorce proceedings from her husband may not take their child to services at the predominately gay Metropolitan Community Church. "The primary issue is where the child would attend Sunday School and church....The intent was for mainline churches to be utilized in the religious training of the daughter," District Judge Keith Nelson of the 78th Judicial District of the Texas court wrote in his ruling. "The Metropolitan Community Church does not fall into this category."

NEW ORLEANS, LA--The congregation of First Pentecostal Church and its pastor, Rev. John Cupit are publicly opposing the establishment of the Hospice of St. Jude in its neighborhood. The hospice will be a residence for those dying of AIDS-related diseases. Rev. Cupit said that there are other "blighted" areas and the care facility should go there.
Marilyn McWilliams, director of the hospice has met with Rev. Cupit and offered to educate him and his congregation about AIDS, its transmission and the hospice care system, but the offer was rejected. Rev. Cupit offered to buy the building, but only at a substantial loss to the hospice.

Two Men Charged In Beating Death, Burning Gay Man

SYLACAUGA Ala. (AP) Two men who claimed to be angry over a sexual advance by a gay acquaintance plotted his murder for two weeks, then beat him to death with an axe handle and burned his body on a pyre of old tires, police said.
Steven Eric Mullins, 25 and Charles Monroe Butler Jr., 21 were arrested and charged with the murder of Billy Jack Gaither, 39. Bail is set at $500,000 each.
Mullins and Butler, who apparently knew Gaither from going to the same bars around town, claimed that Gaither made a pass at them. The two then began to plan the murder.
After a pool tournament at a nightclub the three went in Gaither's car to a secluded boat ramp whre Gaither was beaten and thrown in the trunk of his own car. The men then drove to the trash-strewn banks of Peckerwood Creek.
Two tires were set on fire with kerosene. Gaither was taken out of the trunk, beaten with an axe handle, and his now-lifeless body was thrown on the fire.
Gaither's burned-out car was found on a country road the next day.
Friend, most of whom knew that Gaither was gay, said they did not believe he would make a sexual advance on the men.
" He didn't ever put anyone in (an awkward) position," said Marian Hammonds, who owns The Tavern, a nightclub Gaither visited on the night of his slaying.
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Alabama learned of the killing through a contact in the area. They complied with a request to keep the killing quiet so as not to interfere in the investigation.
Alabama is one of the 19 states with hate-crime laws that don't cover offenses related to sexual orientation.

School Officals Refuse to Protect Gay Student Mutilated by Other Students

Officials at San Marino High School in Novato, CA were sharply criticized this week for allegedly failing to protect an openly gay high school senior, Adam Colton, from a months-long campaign of verbal harrassments at school, the vandalizing of personal property on school property, and finally from a physical attack in which the student was beaten severely and mutilated by having the word "fag" carved on his chest and arm with a ball-point pen. Colton was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.
Police said the attack took place on school property.
School officials refused to comment on the incident.

United Methodist Minister On Trial for Same-Sex Union Ceremony

The Chicago pastor who performed a same-sex union ceremony last September has been formally charged with disobedience to the United Methodist Church.
A church trial will begin March 25 at First United Methodist Church in Downers Grove, Ill. Retired United Methodist Bishop Jack Tuell of Greenbank, Wash., will preside. Thirteen clergy will be selected to serve on the jury.
The charge against the Rev. Gregory Dell, 53, pastor of Broadway United Methodist Church, resulted from a complaint filed by Chicago Bishop Joseph Sprague in October. A committee on investigation for the Northern Illinois Annual (regional) Conference -- of which Dell has been a member in good standing since his ordination in 1970 - made the charge official after a Feb. 23 meeting.

Southern Baptists Cancel American Airlines

NASHVILLE - The Southern Baptist Convention(SBC) has dropped American Airlines(AA) as a recommended airline for convention travel because of reports of the airline's support of equal rights for gay people and the contributions made by AA to gay causes.
Unlike the failed boycott against Disney last year, officals refuse to call this action a boycott, saying that Southern Baptists can make their own decision about air travel. The SBC itself will no longer recommend AA or its discounts to Southern Baptists for travel to the annual summer SBC meeting.
"Our integrity is wrapped up with our consistency," SBC spokesperson Bill Merrell said yesterday. "If we give up our values for a 5% or 10% discount, those values aren't being closely held."
AA is the latest target of the crusade by SBC to eradicate elements of society-such as homosexuals- that SBC leaders deem to be "destructive of the family and society."
The SBC campaign against AA began in 1997 when the SBC tried to stop the airline from making corporate contributions to gay-friendly organizations and to stop "targeting" the gay market for customers, according to a Baptist Press release.
Andrea Rader, a spokesperson at AA's Headquarters in Ft. Worth, Texas says the airline appears to have been "singled out" by the SBC.
Rader said the airline financially supports the Human Rights Campaign(HRC) and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAD).
"We consider the HRC and GLAD to be civil rights organizations and our association with them is one that we consider to be consistent with our employees' interests and with a significant section of our customer base," Rader said.
According the Baptist Press, AA had previously issued a statement saying, "We are very sorry that these groups disagree with our company's policy of treating all customers and employees with kindness and respect."

Baptists Plan Lessons To Help Homosexuals Change

NASHVILLE -(AP) Adult Sunday School lessons focusing on homosexuality will be offered at many Southern Baptist churches for the first time this weekend.
The lessons, titled, "Offering Hope to Homosexuals," stick with the denominations historical condemnation of homsexuality, but are aimed at generating discussion about how Southern Baptists should minister to gays. The lessons teach that the Bible says homosexuality is immoral.
"I hope through this lesson that people would see an open door for all sinners and come and have a changed life through Jesus Christ," said Ross McClaren, who wrote some of the lessons. McClaren, a biblical studies specialist at LifeWay Christian Resources, the publishing arm of the 15.6 million member Southern Baptist Convention, based in Nashville, Tn, said the lessons aim to condemn homosexuality but not homsexuals.
Dr. William Turner, co-chairman of the Lesbian and Gay Coalition for Justice in Tennessee, said he finds the idea of "
hate the sin but love the sinner" patronizing."I know plenty of lesbian and gay Christians who are quite convinced that they have a perfectly adequate relationship with God and are still gay," said Turner, adding he is not contesting the right of Southern Baptists to teach what they want.
"The problem is imposing that doctrine on the rest of the culture." The lessons characterize homosexuality as unnatural and sinful. Homosexuals are encouraged to change, and heterosexual Christians are asked to help them.
Victor Andersen, an ethics professor at Vanderbilt University Divinity School, said such lessons can be interpreted as threatening. "I cannot imagine a homosexual member reading these lessons and finding comfort and hope. I can only imagine it being a source of anguish and pain."
"I despise it, and God says it's wrong. But you can't condemn people. You can't get in their face and say, What you're doing is wrong." says Don Ursery, a deacon at Una Baptist Church. "The Bible says I must hate the sin, not the sinner." go to H&B page
One minister who disagrees is The Rev. Mark Caldwell of Glendale Baptist church. "When you put questions to the Bible that the Bible knows little or nothing about, you don't get legitimate biblical answers."
Adds Andersen, "The issue is whether homosexuality ought to be rightly understood as a spiritual perversion. On that point I simply disagree."

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- ...Across the street, a dozen protesters waved neon-green signs that read "Brides of Satan," "Methodist Fag Church" and "Sows Wed."...

SAMPLES OF FALWELL RHETORIC (1991-1999)

"God wiped them [Sodom and Gomorrah] clean from the face of the earth! These two Old Testament cities were so filled with homosexuality and perversion that they were utterly destroyed…Will our nation face a similar fate because God-fearing moral people failed to stop homosexuality from becoming an accepted lifestyle in our churches, schools and public places?" Jerry Falwell, 1991

[If homosexuals are allowed in the military] "Expect a breakdown in morale as heterosexual men and women are forced to share barracks and showers with openly homosexual persons. Expect a dramatic rise in AIDS cases among military personnel and a subsequent jump in the taxpayer-financed military health care price tag." Falwell 1992

[Homosexuals] "…have a godless, humanistic scheme for our nation - a plan which will destroy America's traditional moral values…Complete elimination of God and Christianity from American society is being designed right now…[Join with me] "…in a Declaration of War against the forces of Satan that have gripped our nation." Falwell 1993

"There is no middle ground. For Christians, there can be no peaceful coexistence with those Sodomites whom God has given over to a reprobate mind." Jerry Falwell 1994

"Gay rights legislation may soon force churches, Christian schools, organizations, and businesses - in defiance of their beliefs - to hire a quota of homosexuals." Falwell 1995

"These [homosexual] deviants seek no less than total control and influence in society, politics, our schools and in our exercise of free speech and religious freedom." Falwell 1996

"My friend, we must put a stop to this radical Gay Agenda - and tell President Clinton that God-fearing Americans will no longer stand for the destruction of Morality and Religion in our Country." Jerry Falwell 1997

The death of Matthew Shepard was "…senseless and tragic. My heart goes out to the families left behind…I will never condone violence or hatred against another man… [But] "…homosexuality is a sin. It is against God's plan. As long as I am able, I will speak out against this wicked, perverse lifestyle." Jerry Falwell 1998

"When homosexuality was celebrated…something important died in America…something crucial to the American soul fell silent…[Homosexuals don't care] "that the America they're demanding is …a sewer of moral filth…an environment that is incredibly dangerous to our children…a culture that despises Christian faith and morality…" Jerry Falwell 1999
